Transparent Labs is an American based health and wellbeing company that focuses mainly on producing supplements marketed towards athletes and those that want to lose weight.
The Prebiotic Greens formula only contains a small selection of scientifically-researched ingredients, but they certainly pack a punch and this powder shouldn’t be overlooked.
The team behind the brand has clearly looked at the competition in the super greens market and has realized that way too often a myriad of filler products are used within formulas to chunk up the product.
Transparent Labs didn’t want to create a product that was similar to anything else out there and certainly didn’t want to start adding irrelevant ingredients to make the formula bulkier, so the brand took on the challenge of reinventing what a super greens powder is.

Although the brand is mainly focused on creating supplements to improve people’s physiques, it also produces an array of wellbeing products that can be found in the ‘Wellness Series’ on the Transparent Labs website. Within this series of products is the Prebiotics Greens formula.
Although none of the ingredients within the formula appear to cause problems for people on a keto or paleo diet, the formula isn’t marketed as suitable for people following these diets. This seems a shame, as the keto and paleo diet world is growing so quickly, and the brand should say whether or not the formula is suitable for those on these diets.
The brand also wanted the formula to be available to the biggest variety of people possible, even those with specific dietary requirements. Therefore, the powder is gluten-free, non-GMO, vegetarian and vegan, soy-free, contains no artificial colorings, and no added sugar.
Although the Prebiotic Greens formula by Transparent Labs only has a small selection of ingredients, the ingredients that have been chosen for this mix are incredibly potent and provide the consumer with an incredible variety of health benefits. Overall, the formula increases the level of health of the consumer, especially because it’s an easy way for people to receive super greens if they don’t normally through their diet.
However, the brand also claims there are several more specific health benefits that this, and divides the health benefits derived from the formula into two categories according to the type of ingredients. There are two different groups of ingredients within the formula, one being Algae Greens and the other being Prebiotic Fibers.
The Algae Greens within the mix not only provides the consumer with a large number of essential vitamins and minerals but also provides a source of plant-based protein. In addition, the brand also claims that the Algae Greens part of the formula will help to remove heavy metals and toxins from the body, lowering the risk of disease.
The Prebiotic Fibers in the formula benefit the consumer by support digestive health, regulating bowel movements, increasing the healthy microflora in the gut, and lowering the risk of digestive diseases and illnesses.
The Prebiotic Greens formula only contains 6 main ingredients and 4 flavoring ingredients, but Transparent Labs prides itself on the small selection of ingredients, claiming that the formula still contains the dosage of each ingredient needed to provide health benefits for the consumer.
Living up to the brand name, the list of ingredients is incredibly transparent and the amount of each ingredient within the mix is shown. The amounts are clearly shown both on the tub and on the brand’s website, so much so that one of the first things you read on the tub is ‘3g Chlorella, 3g Spirulina, and 8g Prebiotic fiber’.

The fact that the brand is transparent is a real benefit for the consumer because unlike many other super greens formulas that contain proprietary blends, the consumer can figure out whether they are receiving the correct dosage of each individual ingredient in order to derive the desired health benefits from the formula.
So, let’s take a closer look at the 6 main ingredients within the formula and the health benefits that are specific to them.
Spirulina
Spirulina is a potent alga, with strong anti-inflammatory properties to reduce inflammation in all areas of the body, as well as being packed with antioxidants that help to protect the cells from radical damage and aid with detoxing the body. Acacia Fiber
Acacia is the word used for a group of plants and shrubs that have been used for centuries in ancient medicinal practices. These types of plants have high levels of fiber, support the digestive system, increases the speed at which wounds heal, reduce body fat percentage, and boost the immune system (3).
Green Banana Flour
Green banana flour contains resistant starch that, as the name suggests, resists the sugar breakdown process and therefore is a healthy type of flour to consume. Green banana flour also supports the digestive system, reduces cholesterol levels, and promotes weight loss (4).
Jerusalem Artichoke Fiber
Jerusalem artichokes, also known as Sunchokes, are packed with prebiotics that supports the digestive system and increases the amount of healthy microflora in the gut. Jerusalem artichokes are full of essential proteins and iron, as well as being linked with lowering blood pressure and cholesterol (5).
Chicory Root
Chicory root has been used for centuries in ancient medical practice and is a powerful prebiotic. The root contains mainly inulin, which is a powerful prebiotic that ensures the microflora of the gut is healthy. It also supports the digestive system, regulates bowel movements, aids with weight loss, and regulates blood sugar levels (6).
The other 4 ingredients within the formula are all flavoring ingredients: Malic acid, Natural flavor, Stevia, and Cinnamon.
The Prebiotics Greens formula only comes in one flavor – naturally flavored. Due to the use of natural flavor ingredients such as stevia and cinnamon, the formula tastes sweet and is easily drinkable. However, the flavorings aren’t overpowering and therefore the formula does have hints of that classic ‘grassy’ super greens taste.
For someone that is used to the taste of super greens formulas, they won’t have a problem with consuming this with water only. However, for those that are consuming super greens for the first time, they might want to add it to a shake to reduce the earthy flavor.
Transparent Labs offers a discount for ordering larger quantities of the Prebiotic Greens formula, but it doesn’t have a subscription option. Also, the brand doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee.
The tubs of Prebiotics Greens contain 485g of formula, which is around double the quantity of what other brands offer. This is an incredibly large amount of formula in one tub. However, the brand recommends a serving size of 16.17g, which is again a much larger amount in comparison to what other brands offer. This seems concerning because it shows that you need to consume a large amount of the product for the health benefits to be apparent.
If you were to use the recommended serving size, one tub of the formula would contain 30 servings. You could use a smaller serving size so the formula would last longer, but you might not receive the correct amount of ingredients if you do so.
One tub on the Transparent Labs website costs $36.00. If you were to use the recommended serving size, this works out at a cost per serving of $1.20.
If you purchase two tubs, on the Transparent Labs website, it costs $67.00. Therefore, this works out at a price of $33.50 per tub, and a cost per serving size of $1.15.
If you purchase three tubs, on the Transparent Labs website, it costs $98.00. Therefore, this works out at a price of $32.66 per tub, and a cost per serving size of $1.09.
In comparison to other brands, the price of this formula lands somewhere in the middle. It’s neither especially cheap nor especially expensive. Also, you don’t save that much money at all if you order a larger quantity, which unfortunately doesn’t seem very transparent, seeing as the brand is trying to make it seem like the consumer will save a lot.

This product is impressive because of the potent ingredients within the formula, the transparency of the amount of each ingredient in the formula, and the great taste.
The cost is also reasonable. However, it seems a shame that there are no negative third-party reviews on the product, and the website only shows positive ones. This seems less transparent.
