Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens Review

Zhou Nutrition Deep GreensZhou Nutrition Deep Greens claims it was created to be used daily and easily mixes into your favorite juices, smoothies, or whatever drink you prefer. They say it’s the best way to start your day.

Although we agree that drinking greens first thing in the morning is a great way to kick off your day, we want to take a deeper look into what Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens has on its ingredient list.

Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens claims many benefits, from increasing your energy levels, supporting your gut health to assisting the body with detoxing.

Let’s dig a little deeper and see if its list of ingredients can back up all these claims.

Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens was created by John Alex Upperman, the founder of Zhou Nutrition. He likes to support his products through modern science and ancient medicinal practices.

A few years ago, Zhou Nutrition was bought out by Nutraceutical for close to $19 million. Zhou Nutrition is still a parent company of the Nutraceutical organization.

Zhou Nutrition has more products than just the Deep Greens; they also focus on other health areas, including a women’s line for reproductive health.

The website for Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens is nicely designed and informative. You can easily see that medical professionals were clearly behind the development of this brand.

You won’t find many benefits listed on the website for Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens. We found this to be odd since everything else on the website is clearly laid out.

When looking directly at the container of Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens, you will find the following benefits listed:

  • Increases Energy Levels
  • Improves Focus and Clarity
  • Boosts the Immune System
  • Reduces Stress Levels
  • Support the Digestive System
  • Aids with Detoxing the Body
  • Supports pH Balance

The container for Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens suggests it includes the following:

  • Cereal Grasses
  • Veggies & Fruits
  • Adaptogens
  • Antioxidants
  • Probiotics
  • Prebiotic Fiber
  • Vitamins & Minerals
  • Digestive Enzymes

Both of these lists are very interesting, and if the actual ingredients can back them up, then Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens is probably going to be an outstanding product.

A company can claim as many benefits as they want, but their ingredients need to be revealed to justify those claims. Unfortunately, we immediately noticed that Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens contains proprietary blends.

If you’ve read any of our other greens reviews, you probably already know that we are not a fan of using proprietary blends in any formula.

The issue we have with this is that we cannot figure out the exact dosages of each ingredient and have no way of knowing if they meet the daily recommended values.

Here’s a look at the ingredient list for Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens:

  • Energy & Detox Greens (4650mg) – Organic Wheat Grass Powder, Organic Spirulina Powder, Organic Barley Grass Powder (leaf), Organic Alfalfa Grass (leaf), Organic Chlorella Powder (cracked cell), Organic Broccoli Powder, Organic Kale Powder, Organic Spinach Powder
  • Digestive Enzymes & Probiotics (266mg) – Bromelain (2400 GDU/g), Papain (6000 PU – equivalent to USP U/mg), Bacillus coagulans (100 billion CFU/g) (as Sanzyme)
  • Immune Boosting Antioxidants (650mg) – Organic Matcha Powder, Organic Beetroot Juice Powder, Organic Ginger Root Powder, Organic Echinacea Powder, Organic Acai Juice Powder, Organic Parsley Powder, Organic Acerola Powder
  • Prebiotic Fiber (2900mg) – Organic Agave Inulin (as TicOrganic), Organic Flax Seed Powder, Organic Apple Fiber (fruit)
  • Focus & Clarity Adaptogens (375mg) – Organic Ashwagandha Powder, Organic Maca Root Powder, Organic Reishi Mushroom Powder, Organic Astragalus Extract
  • Other Ingredients: Organic Natural Flavor, Organic Green Stevia Leaf Powder

We are thankful that Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens is lab tested and certified as being USDA organic. Keep in mind, the only way a company can get its product certified is by proving its ingredient list is at least 95% organic.

Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens formula is also certified for Good Manufacturing Practices. Plus, it’s non-GMO, dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan. So, it does meet a lot of people’s concerns or health issues.

Since Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens does contain stevia, it will be a bit on the sweet side. However, some of the reviews state that they needed something else to mask the grass taste, such as juice to mix it with.

The container of Zhou Deep Greens does have a caution warning for anybody that is pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, or has a medical condition. You should always consult with your medical doctor before using this type of product.

That is true for any supplement or anything else you are consuming if you have a pre-diagnosed issue. It is always better to check with your doctor before adding anything new to your regimen.

On the website for Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens, there aren’t any reviews to date. For a company that has been around for a few years to not have any reviews on their website for just one of their many products is a bit unusual and makes you wonder why.

We did check on Amazon and found that there are just 30 reviews with a total rating of 3.9 out of 5 stars. That’s not very convincing for the benefits being claimed, but let’s see what the reviews reveal about Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens.

Here’s a look at what some people are saying about Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens:

I feel so much better and energetic, and definitely feeling less bloated!A.

Didn’t irritate my stomach or affect my digestive schedule. It was a little tough to hide the flavors but apple juice seemed to be the best way!C.

For overall extra nutrients this is an easy way to boost your daily intake.A.

I honestly couldn’t taste it in any of my shakes/smoothies. Deep Green’s mild flavor disappeared into my shake, leaving only its slightly murky color as a sign that it was hard at work.T.

So excited to find a trusted organic greens from ZHOU that includes Prebiotic Fiber, Enzymes and Probiotics.S.

I haven’t noticed any improvement in my energy levels or mental gymnastics since using it but it tastes pretty good. My only real complaint is that it contains stevia.B.

I noticed an increase in energy after the first few mornings and I wasn’t looking for something to snack on mid-morning. My skin seems more vibrant and less tired looking.T.

The reviews seemed to be pretty good, most of the complaints were about the flavor. We find that you need more reviews to really get a good feeling about the overall product and how people feel about it.

Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens comes in a container of 273 grams, and the cost for one container is $28.89, which has approximately 30 servings.

You will be paying about $0.96 per serving, which is relatively cheap for a USDA certified organic greens product. The only downside is it has proprietary blends, which is probably why the cost is so low.

You can get free shipping if you spend over $30, and if not, then the shipping rates will vary depending on where you live. Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens can be shipped internationally, but the cost is calculated based on where you are located.

You can choose to ‘subscribe & save’ to score the 20% discount and get free shipping. However, we never suggest subscribing to a product without trying it first.

You don’t want to commit to something and find out it doesn’t deliver the claimed benefits, or worse yet, you despise the taste!

We really had high hopes for Zhou Nutrition Deep Greens due to it being USDA certified organic. That is not something you regularly see, especially on products for greens.

However, the use of proprietary blends was a rather big issue for us because we just can’t justify not knowing how much of each ingredient is in the product.

If you can’t figure out whether or not you are meeting your daily requirement for one or more ingredients, then it will be nearly impossible to know if it’s doing its job.

The low cost is something that might be appealing to some people when looking for affordable options for getting their greens daily.

However, we can’t support a product that leaves us guessing when it comes to our consumption of nutrients. We definitely know what we need, and we need a product that supports those values.

There are plenty of other greens products on the market that are fully transparent about their ingredient list and are competitively priced.
