All Day Energy Greens Review

All Day Energy Greens ReviewAs we all know, staying healthy can be a challenge in today’s day and age. Nutrition and exercise are both crucial to keeping fit, but with our packed schedules and busy days, it’s admittedly difficult to keep an eye on one, let alone both factors.

In a bid to save time and get the necessary nutrients as quickly as possible, many people have opted to use green powders. Although the green powders market is expanding rapidly, they generally still share the same benefit of being quick and easy to consume — just mix a serving with water, and you’ll have a day’s worth of essential nutrients in one go.

One of these green powder brands on the market today is All Day Energy Greens. Behind it is the Institute for Vibrant Living (IVL), an Arizona-based company.

Apart from All Day Energy Greens, the company also sells other similar nutrition products, such as Beauty Collagen Protein, Superfood Fruit Drink, and Youth Driver. There are also cosmetic products on sale, like the Makana Hyaluronic Acid Serum and SeaNU Hair Shampoo.

The website also has a number of blog posts and informational articles about maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The brand seems to be targeted at the elderly, with topics ranging from anti-aging to digestive health and hearing. As with any health brand, it’s good to see that the brand actively promotes a healthy lifestyle, not just its own products.

Coming back to the green powder, like many other brands, All Day Energy Greens is marketed as a way to give consumers a “fuller, more energized life”. However, more notably, what makes it outstanding is that it claims to exceed “the nutritional equivalent of five servings of fruits and vegetables”.

Is this information accurate? Do their claims hold any water? There’s much research to be done, but not to worry — here’s the breakdown of what you can expect from All Day Energy Greens, so you can decide that for yourself.

According to the product page, the All Day Energy Greens powder contains 42 of the world’s most powerful superfoods and digestive enzymes. It also states that the green powder is designed scientifically on a plant-based diet, which supposedly can “repair telomeres which will help you look and feel healthier, younger, and can help you live longer”.

With such audacious claims, let’s take a quick and closer look at all ten of the benefits this green powder claims to have.

Helps Protect Your Skin Against the Signs of Aging Caused by Oxidative Stress and Pollution

It’s actually true that oxidative stress causes the loss of collagen, which in turn, accelerates the aging process. This is caused in part by free radicals, which are unstable atoms that scavenge the human body. Though little is known about their overall role in human health, the website is right in the fact that antioxidants help to mitigate their effect.

However, before we ascertain the antioxidative benefit of All Day Energy Greens, we’ll take a closer look at the ingredients later to see if there are indeed enough antioxidants in the green powder for a significant impact in this regard.

Support Your Overall Health and Vitality

The website states that long life and lasting energy are achieved through a plant-based diet that the powder supposedly provides. With it also comes a lower risk of many chronic illnesses, supposedly such as heart disease and diabetes.

Well, while a plant-based diet does have anti-inflammation effects and contains many antioxidants to help protect and revitalize the body, it’s important to consider that taking the green powder only makes up one part of one’s daily diet.

It definitely does not constitute a whole plant-based diet, so unless you take it as part of a whole plant-based diet plan, there’s a chance it might not be as effective in this aspect.

Helps Protect Your Cells Against the Damage Caused by Free Radicals

Similar to the first benefit, this potential benefit of All Day Energy Greens is scientifically backed — and to know for sure if this green powder works, we’ll have to take a peek of the ingredient list for antioxidants later.

Helps Provide Critical Nutrients for Eye Health

There’s evidence from the American Optometric Association to back the claim that leafy green vegetables and citrus fruits are beneficial to support eye health, which is a plus for the credibility of this benefit. It also states that these are rich in anti-oxidant minerals like Vitamin C, lutein and zeaxanthin.

Support a Healthy Immune System

The website cites a 2011 study about the impact of fruit and vegetable powders on the immune system, but the study is not named or referenced. However, it’s logical to believe that a green powder would have a positive effect on the immune system, as long as the quantity consumed daily is large enough.

Help Promote Healthy Brain Function

For this benefit of All Day Energy Greens, the evidence is presented in a study that showed that supplementation with blueberry juice for 12 weeks significantly improved the cognitive function of older participants.

However, similar to the above benefit, the 2011 study is cited but not named or referenced. There is also no mention of how much blueberry juice was taken, or what the specific nutrients that allowed for this are.

Contains Nutrients that are Optimal for Joint Health

In this green powder, the ingredients that support healthy bone function are rose hips fruit powder, watercress leaf juice powder, and green tea leaf extract. These have been scientifically tested, but as per normal, there has to be a significant enough quantity for these to be effective.

Fruits and vegetables are known to help improve heart health. According to the product website, by possessing the antioxidants and vitamins found in these foods, All Day Energy Greens has the potential to result in the same effect, all without you actually having to consume all the actual fruit and vegetables.

We do have to look at the ingredients to see if there is a sufficient dosage of these minerals for a significant health effect, but so far, this benefit definitely makes sense. After all, that’s the reason why people take green powders in the first place.

Heart of berries in a bowl

The website states that Apple Fiber Powder and Organic Flax Seed Meal Powder are the ingredients behind the ability of this green powder to improve digestion and thus improve one’s health.

Of course, there’s a catch to this — and you’ve probably guessed it. There has to be a sufficient quantity of these two ingredients for any positive impact on digestion, and we can only find out for sure from the ingredient list later on.

For this benefit, All Day Energy Greens contains sources of B complex vitamins. The link to vitality on a cellular level is shaky, but it’s definitely true that this form of vitamins is important for body processes like metabolism and brain health.

As a whole, many of the benefits seem quite impressive, but an even closer look at the ingredient list is warranted to confirm any of the claims. There are also several benefits that are not substantiated properly, and so should be taken with a pinch of salt.

That being said, should all of the claims actually be true, All Day Energy Greens would certainly be one of the most beneficial and valuable green powders today.

All Day Energy Greens labelAgain, there’s a remarkable total of 42 ingredients in four main categories — 11 green superfoods, 17 phytonutrient-rich ingredients, 9 high-antioxidants, and 5 ingredients targeting digestion.

It looks like a long list, so let’s dive right in!

To start off, every serving of All Day Energy Greens contains only 25 calories, with no fat and very little carbohydrates. This is great news for those looking to watch their calorie intake, as it allows you to get the nutrients, but without the additional calories that come with consuming some kinds of fruits and vegetables.

However, it’s surprising that the nutritional label is not easily found on the product page, and one has to zoom in significantly to get a clear view. Even on the Amazon page, the supplement facts are only visible in the very last picture. Hence, the first impression on consumers is that there is a lack of transparency.

Moreover, in a similar vein, close to 40 of the 42 ingredients are grouped together in a proprietary blend, meaning that we don’t know how much of each ingredient is in All Day Energy Greens. We are also not informed on which ingredient falls into which of the four main categories, unlike many competitor green powders brands.

close to 40 of the 42 ingredients are grouped together in a proprietary blend, meaning that we don’t know how much of each ingredient is in All Day Energy Greens.

In fact, what we can only tell is that all of these ingredients combined make up only 8,256 mg of each 10 g serving — which is not promising in terms of quantity. For comparison, early research has shown that it takes 7 grams of flaxseed, one of the ingredients in the minute proprietary blend, for any significant effect on human health.

Also absent in All Day Energy Greens are probiotic bacteria, that are found in many other green powders brands. Probiotic bacteria are known for helping digestion and nutrient absorption, so perhaps this green powder loses a little of its competitiveness in this portion.

On the flipside, some of the ingredients included in the proprietary blend are familiar ones found across many brands of health supplements. These include chlorella, spirulina, spinach leaf powder, artichoke fruit powder, and blueberry fruit powder.

It is also important to note that there is definitely still nutritional value in All Day Energy Greens. Vitamins and minerals like folic acid, Vitamin B12 and biotin are listed clearly on the label to meet and even exceed recommended daily values. For example, one serving gives you 80% of your Vitamin A requirements, with 100% of your Vitamins D and K daily requirements met.

It also includes nutrients like iron, calcium, potassium, and copper. Found naturally in fruits and vegetables, they are all important minerals for the human body to function.

Overall, there are great ingredients in the proprietary blend, but quantity-wise, most, if not all of them are not enough. With the added vitamins and minerals, however, taking All Day Energy Greens daily will still help to improve health.

It’s also difficult to tell if it successfully exceeds “the nutritional equivalent of five servings of fruits and vegetables” as claimed, but as a whole, it is certainly a nutritious supplement.

A cautionary note to end this segment: although All Day Energy Greens is plant-based and vegetarian, the original and fruity versions reviewed here are not certified organic by USDA or Quality Assurance International.

Online reviews suggest that the original flavor is quite palatable, with a mixed berry flavor. Some say there are undertones of carrot flavor, while others mention tasting some grape flavors, but overall, the reaction is quite positive in terms of flavor.

Apart from the original flavor, there is also a fruity flavor version of All Day Energy Greens. Reaction to this online has been slightly more negative, with some saying that it tastes too sweet for their liking. However, this is largely based on personal preference, so perhaps the only way to know for sure is to actually try the product.

A canister of All Day Energy Greens, for both the original and fruity flavors, sell at $39.95 on the product website. Each canister comes with 300 g of the green powder, so with a serving size of 10 g, it amounts to 30 servings at $1.33 each.

If you buy three canisters at one go, there is a bulk discount of $15, so each serving amounts to $1.16. Similarly, if you buy six canisters, there is a bulk discount of $90, so each serving amounts to just 83 cents.

On the product website, you are entitled to free shipping only if you spend upwards of $125, so perhaps buying on a reseller site like Amazon may be more cost-saving if you wish to only try one canister.

Generally, All Day Energy Greens is a very affordable green powder, compared to many other brands and supplements on the market today! Not only does each serving cost under the market average, but you will also get a whole month’s supply with just one canister.

Apart from shopping online through the official website or through reseller sites like Amazon, you can find them in big retailers like Walmart and Vitamin Shoppe. However, do check with your local retailer for the most updated stock information.

This is a tricky brand of green powder to evaluate because while some of its claims are totally misleading, it certainly does have some nutritional value at a decent price. Online testimonials are also divided in terms of taste, quality, and health benefit.

The bottom line is that it depends on what you are looking for — if you want a green powder that has unique added ingredients for specific benefits, then this is probably not for you, due to the lack of transparency about the ingredients and the small quantity of the proprietary blend.

If you want to be 100% confident of getting the optimum nutrients in your greens powder then we would suggest going for a more premium supplement. This means you can be confident you’re getting exactly what you need in every serving.

This is why we like brands like Supergreen TONIK. However, if you’re just looking for a low-cost nutritional supplement, then All Day Energy Greens might be just right.
